How Many Ways Do You Have Of Saying “Thank You”?

These parakeets have a few different ways…Thank You, Thanksgiving, Thank You-Thank You (spoken very quickly), We Thank You….etc. It’s like using the word “Aloha” which can mean Hello or Goodbye…. They say Thank You when they want something or when I give them something or do something for them like take them out into the sunroom. Jay-Jay keeps saying “ Thank you-Thank you” really quick. She wants to go into the sun room but it’s not warm enough today.

Birds are like poetry in feather form. This is delightful to read, Cherokee. Thank you for sharing.

@PoetryNEmotion Boo-Boo gets sassy sometimes and says “Parakeet, Parakeet…We don’t care”. I don’t know how he came up with that one. He said it once after I scolded him for flapping his wings around after I vacuumed up all the seeds and shells on the table and floor around the cages, told him I just cleaned it up and he made more of a mess. So I started making more of a rhyme out of it and told him “Parakeet, Parakeet, We Don’t Care, We Drink Beer in Our Underwear”. I never heard him say it. But the boy was having a Zoom talk with one of his school friends and brought his cage into his room to show him and left him there while they talked. Then Boo-Boo said the whole rhyme. Anyway that other boy thought it was funny and said it and his little brother who was in first grade overheard it and said it at school. Somehow the big brother heard about it. 😖 Maybe the teacher mentioned it. 😂
@cherokeepatti Priceless story! So funny. When I was a child, our budgies imitated ducklings so well. They are fine imitators. I like canary song. Those orange ones...

@PoetryNEmotion I had one parakeet about 30 years ago that could sing like a canary. He was purchased from Walmart when they were still selling birds and they had parakeets, finches and canaries for sale there. Had another parakeet that could sing like robins because there were so many robins at the apartment complex and they would light down on the lawns around apartments and sing when it was quiet in the morning.
