What are you all eating on Thanksgiving? for Canadians...what did you eat for Thanksgiving?

We are tired of turkey so i am looking for suggestions.
we make home made bread, stuffing, an apple cranberry sauce, a baked sweet potato dish and pumpkin pie...🤤

My brother isn't feeling very well right now and mom doesn't want people over to her house this year so it's looking like the kids and I will be going out to Chinese or Pakistani.
@TheFragile I hope your brother feels better soon.
TheFragile · 46-50, M
@PhoenixPhail Thanks. It's his chemo. It makes him really sick and weak.
@TheFragile I am sorry. I hope he gets better. maybe find out what he CAN eat and make a big deal out of that...

@SW-User wow...is this Julia Child? that sounds fancy
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
I’m Canadian. Last month I made a Turkey, baked ham, roasted veggies, cranberries, homemade gravy, mashed potatoes and I bought some pies
@Jenny1234 interesting...it sounds like American thanksgiving...what is yours about?
Kaylaaa · 31-35, F
A friend's family does Cornish game hens for everyone instead of turkey
@Kaylaaa i have those in the freezer
Well...what did you do?

[If you are avoiding fowl overall, you could branch out into other meats...

A really different choice would be fish & chips...no stuffing needed, ofc., but you could use the rest of your normal items.

Or you could have sandwiches: a few meats, cheeses, onions, condiments, assorted sides.

Some ideas for another holiday, perhaps!]

We're very traditional when it comes to Thanksgiving.

Roast turkey
Glazed ham
Dressing
Baked yams w/marshmallows
Mashed potatoes and broth gravy
Cranberry relish
Coleslaw or some other veggie dish
Fresh baked dinner rolls w/butter
Pies and other assorted desserts
@Magenta how many people do you have over that you have two main dishes? how do you make cranberry relish?
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Sorry, just the usual: roast turkey with stuffing and gravy, mashed potatoes, peas, cranberry sauce, maybe mashed turnip, biscuits, pumpkin pie.
@ChipmunkErnie how do you have your cranberry sauce?
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@DIABLISS I don't -- but my wife likes it so she buys a can for the occasion.
@ChipmunkErnie i actually use really truly live cranberries. i hate the canned stuff
Turkey breast (upper/forward half of the turkey) roasted with homemade stuffing (and lots of dressing on the side).
Mashed red potatoes (skins on) with gravy made from the turkey drippings.
Cranberries.
Corn concoction.
Jello-based salad.
Homemade pies...
I like an untraditional Thanksgiving dinner. But I don't know what it's going to be this year.
@PhoenixPhail let me know...
@DIABLISS I will. One year, many years ago, I had people over for a lobster Thanksgiving dinner. It was a good time, except for the lobsters. 🤭

Turkey and ham here
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
@DIABLISS Cabbage rolls and perogies. Brussrl sprouts braised with bacon. Mashed potatoes, gravy and yams
@LunarOrbit yummy and so creative. not typical fair. it is nice to hear that some people still get creative when it comes to cooking on the holidays
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
@DIABLISS Traditional tablefare is like sex. Gets boring after a while. 😂
Jeephikelove · 51-55, F
Our Thanksgiving was also my birthday and we had steak & lobster. 😋
@Jeephikelove that sounds lovely. i love the idea of surf and turf. i am sorry your birthday is on a holiday
TrashCat · M
