Your favorite holiday destination?

My father and I traveled through the Pacific for 4 weeks. My favorite was Tonga, ocean was clear blue, sand was white and the people were extremely friendly. On Sundays, everything including shops close, from early hour of the morning you hear all different types of church bells and drums. It was a surreal experience, differ from the typical calling by Imams in Egypt with loud speakers.

I truly recommend this wonderful Island.

I like Seychelles and Hong Kong

I love Hong Kong too, the shopping to be precise.

@LostInTheDesert: The shopping is terrible, I think. But I really like the city atmosphere in a small space. Plus the food is great and the integration of East and West. I find shopping to be better in Japan and Korea, even China.

@Meisje: Japan was too claustrophobic for me. My mother loves Japan for some reason and Last trip to China with my parents, I was ill with food poisoning and ended up staying at the hotel the entire time we were there.
I spend most of my days in Hong Kong at Causeway Bay.

@LostInTheDesert: There are many places in Japan that aren't like that, for example Osaka, which I think is better than Tokyo. Yeah many people get food poisoning in China, but luckily I haven't (yet, we will see this summer lol). Causeway Bay is okay, definitely options for shopping, but I prefer Kowloon, where the real people live. I try to stay from tourist traps.

@Meisje: Bidggest tourist trap to date is Hawaii, in my opinion.

@LostInTheDesert: I like Hawaii, there are many places to explore off-the-beaten-path. I would say places like Paris and London are tourist traps. There's plenty to see that are hidden, but it's a pain sometimes living there and dealing with tourists. It's difficult to avoid them.

@Meisje: They have those pink and blue lines, I remember paying for each one expecting it to take me to different places. I found myself at the same sites. Waikele was a big disappointment. I did enjoy the Luau

@LostInTheDesert: Luaus are always fun! I really enjoy them! I have some heritage in Hawaii so my family likes to go often. Waikele is just shopping, isn't it? I've been to all the islands. I prefer Lana'i and Kaua'i for the nature! Oh and Moloka'i for the heritage roots.

I enjoyed going out of Waikiki and mix with the locals. That was far better, Waikele is the outlet for high end products.
