May you all have a blessed Sunday today.
If my film watching lasts till Christmas time, what i might get are those 3 volumes from Arrow Video of my favorite director Rainer Werner Fassbinder, the Miklos Jancso collection and the Bill Morrison collection, ... unless there's a stunning release around by then.
But the driving force has to be enjoying what i have, and there is much to enjoy, and what i find myself gravitating towards is the bleak and depressing, the hopeless and the unrelenting misery as depicted in artifacts from the past.
There are good reasons for this, and i seemingly know them only as i'm watching these sorts of things, and i believe that if i am to be of any use in my doings here, it is through what i bring back from the trenches of the artistry of films and books.
When people say how silly it is to say that violent video games causes people to be violent, i would like to extend to the depressing, the magnetizing to the downbeat, doesn't mean one then becomes downbeat, but to realize more clearly what the downbeat is and can be, thus perhaps knowing better how to address it.
Years of watching from 2005 to around 2018 or so seems to have been all dried up, and now is the time to drink deeply again of the everlasting fountainhead of lights, camera, action. 🎞️
