London. Big Ben to remain silent for the next four years !!

BBC news is reporting that the clock needs to be silenced as essential repair work is carried out on the tower.
The bell that sounds the hour (big Ben) has been in action for most of the last 157 years.
It will make it's final chimes at mid-day on Monday and will not chime again until repairs are completed. Although it WILL chime for Remembrance Sunday(Sunday 12th November) And Midnight New Years Eve.

Coincidentally, time will also be standing still for the duration.

@cherokeepatti Ooooh. Damn! There's a word for that, that I can't think of right now. I hate 'word searching'. I've used the word plenty of times, and it's not an unusual word, but I can't think of it right now. That drives me crazy!

@puck61 Really tough luck for the small businesses that have gone under or have suffered on account of it. It is easier for me to drive to the next town north of here and do business (they have most of the stores in one small area that I like to shop at on the west side of my city where the traffic is messed up) and the city also has lost quite a bit of sales tax because of it. There was a big celebration a couple weeks ago when the road finally opened back up.
@cherokeepatti The built a quarter mile of four lane road here coming into town for apparently no reason at all! It's amazing! I'm glad people got to work though!
