Independence Day, 4th of July. But really it's the 3rd of September, not the 4th of July!

Of interest to note is that only the Americans declared themselves independent of Great Britain on the 4th of July 1776 but Great Britain had still not agreed to that yet. In fact, Great Britain did not grant the USA formal independence until the 3rd of September 1783.

American Independence Day is therefore the 3rd of September, not the 4th of July!
