Are special needs kids easily scared?

Thinking about a Halloween costume. Was looking at a Grim Reaper cloak that was kinda cool, but would it scare special needs kids? Like maybe they won't come to get some candy?
I don't want to scare kids away, just have some fun.
One year I built a man under the stairs with one hand reaching out, and then put a speaker underneath I could remotely control. I made heavy breathing sounds and lots of ghost noises. Scared the crap out of a lot of kids as they came up the stairs, was funny. Of course the brave ones kept going.

I think folks of special needs kids understand the idea that perhaps it's better to get out early while there's still some light.
Of course it depends entirely on what their youngsters understand of Halloween in the first place.
