I had hoped all the candy I’d set out was gone, but there were 6 pieces left. On the way up I encountered my downstairs neighbor’s 12 year old son.
"Would you take this candy ?" I asked him. "Otherwise I’ll eat it, and I really shouldn’t." Just then his mother appeared, and I repeated what I’d said. "Please ?" her son asked. "I’d be helping."
My neighbor laughed at him. "yes, you’re so helpful.Go ahead." I handed him the last six "fun-sized" candy bars and he headed out with his mother. I heard her say, "Six pieces, huh ? I get two." 😄🍬🍭
I spent 4 hours in the waiting room while my truck was getting worked on at the dealership. The gal "overseeing" the operation had a huge bowl of assorted candies. They were left overs from Halloween. The woman would periodically take a shopping bag out of a cabinet and refill the bowl. After resisting for 2 1/2 hours, watching a seemingly endless stream of workers stroll buy to pick up a tidbit or three. Two and a half hours.....grrrr, I gave in. Snickers and Butterfingers, and Twixts and Mars bars.....helpless. The gal smiled as I accused her of being an enabler. She laughed and said "Oh, its not just me, all the gals who work in the back brought their stuff in too".
I bought six bags of candy hoping at least someone would come up, being new area that I have never lived in before. I live on the other side of the mountain now.
Not a soul showed up! Worse than the last place. The neighbors kids at least showed up.
@DeWayfarer I found the picture I was looking for of my first apartment, on a cliff in Pacifica (the city) before it was torn down in 2014 because of erosion. I had moved away years previously.
