Fine Art Fetish Friday

Spanking (among consenting adults) has been a common fetish throughout history and it’s not hard to imagine why. There are power and control dynamics, of course, along with the reinforcement or subversion of traditional gender roles. Plus recapturing one’s childhood. Plus visual appeal and the human obsession with backsides. I could go on and one.

For this week’s post, though, I recommend this essay by Daphne Merkin, a feminist writer, on her own “unlikely obsession” with that particular subject.
