I’ve long known this photograph by Man Ray called Le Violon d’Ingres (1924), which a few years ago became the most expensive photograph sold at auction.


But I didn’t know about the model, Alice Prin, better known as Kiki de Montparnasse. She was a well known model, singer and sometimes artist in Paris who had a relationship with Man Ray for a while and posed for many other artists as well. She certainly wasn’t shy about her figure or posing in the nude. Here are some other images of her as well, including the famous Noire et Blanche (1926)
