Fine Art Fetish Friday

Today’s theme is voyeurism, as seen in this famous painting by Edward Hopper. He painted many types of scenes, but I love his portraits of lonely city dwellers, many of which have a voyeuristic feel, as if you’re spying on them from a neighboring apartment. Here’s a favorite, “Night Windows”, and a bit of a closeup.

Thank you.
Interesting.
When one walks past a lighted bedroom window, the urge to look in is difficult to resist. Never seen anything interesting !

I am not familiar with Hopper's work

@emmasfriend This is probably his most famous. “Nighthawks”.

@Harmonium1923 Nighthawks is probably my favorite painting.

@Starcrossed It’s wonderful. Really captures the feel of late night in the city.

@Harmonium1923 definitely. I welled with tears when I saw it in person. I'm not sure why. It's not a particularly profound or moving piece, but it is beautiful.

@Starcrossed I think he captures the feeling of introspection and loneliness among city dwellers who are part of a busy, crowded world. Sad and beautiful.

@Harmonium1923 It seems so real. And I'd totally go in for a meal. Like 100% looks like a place I'd want to slip into after a concert, play or show downtown.

And I just adore the color scheme in the piece.
