How the modern world doesn't work so well

It was my mother's birthday at the start of the week.
Most of the family she has left are either abroad living and working or elderly or unwell and unable to travel.

So on the day of her birthday she was a little down.
Few phone calls. No visitors and just me with a few presents and a shop bought birthday cake.

I'd been collecting the obvious birthday cards that had arrived in the mail all week.
So at least she had something to open from other folk. That she thought had forgotten. Since she hadn't found them among the post.

Turns out many people HAD remembered. It's just that the postal system is so poor it's taken a week extra for things to arrive !
Today, 12 letters and birthday cards; 4 presents and 3 bouquets of flowers were delivered !

This stupid tiny collection of islands has a postal delivery system worse than just about anywhere else on the planet !

All those whose gifts arrived today don't use the Internet. Have no idea what a smartphone or pc does and still rely heavily on cheques and cash.

Several phone calls today.
They've all agreed between them to send letters and cheques to each other just to annoy the systems they continue to rely on !

Pensioner power !

She sounds like my grandfather. Oh I tried to teach him how to use a simple cellphone but it was beyond his understanding

@lilylovesgaming1986 Not just operating procedures though is it.
It's the fact every business (whether it serves you well or not) demands that you reveal your e-mail address (and by so doing allow them to spam you endlessly on any platform your e-mail is associated with !
