Nice end to the day
Driving home from a pleasant dinner on my wife's birthday we had to stop while a mother deer suckled her 'bambi' right at the edge of the road and just a few feet ahead of us.
These are small 'fallow' deer. WIth long necks, the biggest stand about head to head with a human and look you straight in the eye with considerable dignity - "what are you doing on my turf?" - but this young female was still small, with a calf less than 18 inches tall. It was lovely to see.
