Here’s How Bold They Are In My City:

Stands on a street corner in old downtown with a sign asking for $350 for DRUGS !

And there are some fools who will give him money. They are always getting money for drugs. The police have told people not to hand over cash to people who are asking for money.

Well at least he was honest. Not a great look for anyone's city.

@Sojournersoul I could go all over this city with a camera and take photos of things that we never saw here before the last few years. It’s getting to be like an inner city slum if it goes on for much longer. They are polluting it with trash every night that business employees and residents have to pick up, using the sidewalks and parking lots for toilets, stealing anything that’s not bolted down that they can carry or wheel off in their shopping carts, and accosting residents, visitors and business employees daily. One lady says she lives in the downtown area and gets to experience that daily while she is walking to where ever she needs to go. The city has a travel & tourism tax on hotels & motels and has used that money for promoting it. The old downtown has been built up artsy-fartsy style to attract tourists and those who like to go to art & music festivals. The city has installed a lot of things to make it much more attractive for visitors too. There are people who’ve wanted to transfer here and go to look for homes to buy and then back out of it after seeing what all is happening here. No, it’s not a good look for the city. I don’t feel safe going to any of the parks here in my area any more and have heard that from other women too.I used to like to walk around for exercises and rest on a bench at a neighborhood park. Got an uneasy feeling like I was being watched the last time I did it and the same thing happened to my neighbor about a year and a half later.
@cherokeepatti That is so sad you feel unsafe and cant go out and enjoy yourself.

@Sojournersoul Have to go with people if I get a distance from the house on foot. I don’t think I could out run anyone and I want a witness and backup. A young woman got her lower face slashed with a knife this past month while she was waiting for a bus. It wasn’t too far from Walmart near here. It was a transient and she is homeless. Her husband has cancer and is living in a nursing center so she’s on her own now. She had to get sewn up at the hospital.

There are a number of street people who go around screaming and yelling for no reason. They’ll yell at people to get off the sidewalk as if they own it for example. Business employees have been attacked here during the daytime while working. So
Many businesses have locked their restrooms because they are tired of them getting trashed.
@cherokeepatti Thankfully in the small town i live in, only have one person who sits on the corner by Walmart and he is the nicest guy and no homeless issues at all.

@Sojournersoul Yeah we had that in the small town nearby our farm in northern Missouri. Old men and husbands waiting outside of stores till their wives got finished shopping. They were all friendly and would visit with other men doing the same
@cherokeepatti Same here. Never meet a stranger.

@Sojournersoul My uncle was that way too. We went for a visit for a week up in the area. He wanted to pay for a subscription to the small town newspaper. We were parked outside of the business and was planning on leaving and driving back home to Oklahoma from Missouri early in the day. He spent a good hour after he came out of the newspaper office talking to other men walking by that hadn’t seen him for 7 or 8 years, shaking their hand and then others would walk by. We sat in the car for an hour.
@cherokeepatti I am sure you were like hurry up and stop talking. Lol

@Sojournersoul Yeah but thinking back that was the very last time he got to visit so I am happy he did. We should have stayed another day just so he could visit with others. We had been staying with two different sets of friends and a relative during that week.
