Styrofoam Ice Chest Squeaking All The TIme In The Back Seat Of The Car During A 450-Mile Road Trip To Missouri In August…

Windows all rolled down because no air-conditioning and blowing hot August air on our red sweaty faces.

Stop on the side of the road to eat bologna sandwiches on white bread with that funky orangish sandwich spread for our lunch.

Some things are better these days than 61 years ago.

@akindheart if you hungry enough and it’s handed to you then maybe so
akindheart · 61-69, F
@cherokeepatti it would be my last resort. we did eat potted meat though which was pretty good.

@akindheart I think Sandwich Spread came about because of fear of Mayonnaise being made with raw eggs and the need to keep sandwiches made with mayonnaise refrigerated.

I remember warnings as a kid about taking unrefrigerated sandwiches on picnics.

@Heartlander are we talking about cheese whiz? oh gosh awful stuff
Heartlander · 80-89, M
@akindheart No, this stuff ...

As I remember (my dad was a grocer) it was marketed as a mayonnaise substitute or replacement.

@Heartlander This looks like it might be a lot better than that orange stuff.
akindheart · 61-69, F
