APRIL FOOLS PRANK CALL THAT ALMOST WASN'T APRILL FOOLS
Shortly after my father passed away 1n 1999, my lawyer at the time suggested I have a will made out, At his office I made out my last Will and Testament. I have no brothers or sisters. I was adopted as an infant. I was considered a "Not of Blood" by my (relatives???). The only people I could think of as executives of my will were my neighbors and also close friends. At the time, we only had line land phones. So the land line phone number was what was listed to contact them.
I never married. I did move away. But my friend, executive of my will, remained the only person to live in the house with the land line number. 4/1/26 I decided to call this number to see if it was active, IT IS!
A week ago, 3/23/26 i was taken to the hospital by ambulance, after nearly collapsing from coughing. X-rays and Cat scan revealed I had a Blood Clot in my lungs, 🫁 I was admitted overnight and monitored.
Early the next morning, 3/24/26 about 7:30 am. I struggled to get my breath as the Heart ❤ monitor sounded the Flat Lining alarm! i lay in the hospital bed thinking, "This is it! My FINAL Breath! I'm meeting Jesus face to face soon!
Doctors and Nurses gathered in my room. Then one in white lab coat leaned over me and said something like, "You're not leaving yet' you're still needed here."
Prescribed Blood thinner medicine, I was released from the hospital 3/26/26 about 5:30 pm.
Yesterday, 4/1/26, i realized that it was close to my friend receiving THAT PHONE CALL no one wants to receive. Also if you are the executive of their will, an appointment for the reading of the will and to carry out their last wishes.
My friend and I used to try to prank each other on April Fools Day. So last night, 4/1/26 I called his land line number, wondering if it is still active, IT IS! He didn't recognize my cell phone number, so let the answering machine pick up.
I started to leave him this message:
"Hello Mr. (Lastname) I'm calling from Niles Housing Commission, regarding the estate of (my full legal name). Our records indicate you are named as one of the executives of his Last Will and Testament. please call (my cell phone number) to make an appointment regarding these matters."
My friend picked up after hearing my name, and recognized my voice and asked if this was me.
(Sigh of releive) We ended up talking for over an hour, sharing memories. ✝
