I grew up just 40 miles away in the bayou country, and am very familiar with the area. As a kid in the Boy Scouts I ushered Tulane football games and the Sugar Bowl. It was a different world then, and when done with ushering, just wearing a Boy Scout uniform was enough to get us waved through to sit on the grass on the sidelines.
Lots of personal and family history there. We don’t know who the victims are. Possibly fans in town for the bowl game. So sad to see what should be a celebration come to such a horrible ending.
