I've never heard of someone going to jail for a long time if they were lied to by someone that was 17 or close to a legal age (and made a concerted effort to make sure). Again, I don't know any of the age gap details and clearly am not advocating any of it.

@Keeper I think that they've cracked down on sex crimes a lot in recent years.

When I reported soon to be ex to the police for intimidating me back in March, they were more interested in any sexual abuse than they were about me fearing that he was going to hit me.

Maybe I misunderstood the post - I interpreted it as this guy was a victim or something.

@Keeper not a victim. Was never my intention. I was trying to open some people’s eyes. I also try to not be as judgmental as some. None of us are perfect and I think the Bible mentions humility somewhere! But shoot away if it makes you happy!

@Keeper That depends on how you see it. It sounds to me like he was talking to what he believed was an adult - because of the 18-21 age range... then it later transpired that the real victim was just 17 at the time of the crime being committed.

Obviously, there's more to the story than we know here - but it certainly highlights the need to be very careful of what you are doing and who you do it with... because you never know who is hiding their true age behind a higher age bracket.
