Coming from a Cuban, that's rich. He can't even see a sense of belonging between US and South America.
val70 · 56-60
@sree251 I think that he's into owning the whole of the Americas already
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@val70

Actually, it was a dream of the American Confederacy to create a tropical empire in Latin America. But the Confederacy didn't last long enough to start carrying the dream out.

The Confederacy were the good guys. The bad guys won but they did not fight to end slavery.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@sree251

They mostly fought to save the Union, but abolitionists and free blacks certainly fought to end slavery. And by 1863, Lincoln recognized that emancipation had become a necessary war aim.

Davis called the Emancipation Proclamation "the most execrable document ever signed by the hand of guilty man," or words to that effect.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Thinkerbell Unlike the other side... who went to war to protect slavery and the hegemonic position of the white man above what ever color is out there.

@sree251 Those "good guys" really had a lot of hatred for the perceived inferior being... but don't let that shake that imagination of yours.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@Kwek00

Now tell us how long the Belgians hung on to the "Belgian" Congo, Kweki, and what they did there.

Even Kwik and Kwak know the answer to that.
val70 · 56-60
@Thinkerbell I must add that the 'hanging on' was with the blessing of the CIA and the wider US administration... that Eisenhower let the French down in Vietnam they have never forgiven
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@val70

The CIA was concerned about the Soviet-leaning Lumumba, so they went with the dictator Mobutu.

One of the few clear points Franz Fanon made in his turgidly-written book, "The Wretched of the Earth," was that the African anticolonial insurgents didn't want to abolish the Governor's mansion — they wanted to take it over and live in it.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Thinkerbell Are you that embrassed, that you have to throw a red herring there in Think?
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@Kwek00

The "red herring" has embarrassed YOU, Kweki. 😂

That's why you called it a red herring. 😂😂😂
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Thinkerbell Not really... I can talk about Congo. We don't have an administration in 2026, that is trying to protect us from the faults commited under the Belgian flag in the past. Unlike your administration that has to save people like yourself, that will never grow up and will never have an adult conversation about all the stuff that happened in their nation. And the reason why they have to protect losers like yourself, is because you can't handle standards. You just need to be proud by default, and being proud by default can only be maintained by denieing the past.
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@Kwek00

As is your habit, Kweki, you never read, or at least don't remember what you read. 😂

I clearly stated above what the North and South were fighting for in the American Civil War.

But since you have forgotten (or pretended to), here it is again:

They [the North] mostly fought to save the Union, but abolitionists and free blacks certainly fought to end slavery. And by 1863, Lincoln recognized that emancipation had become a necessary war aim.

Davis [president of the Confederacy] called the Emancipation Proclamation "the most execrable document ever signed by the hand of guilty man," or words to that effect.

And you, of course, dodged the Congo question. 😂 😂 😂
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@Thinkerbell Do you also believe the south where the "good guys"? Because I didn't see ANY rebuttal to that coment.

Congo had nothing to do with what you were talking about... you just pushed it in there, because you believe all humans beings have the same sensitivities as you have. 🤷‍♂
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@Kwek00

Oh, forgive me... I forgot how obtuse you are, Kweki.

I gave you enough credit to understand what it meant when I said Lincoln had recognized emancipation was a necessary war aim by 1863.

But since you need more explicit, kindergarten-level language, no the South was not the "good guys."

And the OP evidently did not think a discussion of European colonialism, forced labor or slavery was a "red herring," but then again, she has at least twice your IQ.* 😂 😂 😂

* that means Intelligence Quotient, since you probably didn't know that either. 🤭

You people are such good students of history. Did you all give teacher an apple?
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@sree251

Nah, the teacher gave Val and me 💯%. No apples needed.

Kwek, on the other hand, never got more
than 40%. A rock could do better.
