Why are romani people or gypsies despised in Europe so much?

I’m an American Gypsy. Ciganos and Gitanos or cale ( Portuguese and Spanish gypsies) well half cale and half white.i want to hear from people living in Europe why there is so much distrust and aversion to gypsies as a whole?
