i did not understand the choices for the poll however, i had to voice my opinion. the US auto markets should be protected from foreign competition as a strategy for the country's strength. it is what every single country on earth does. that is a separate question from the responsibilities of large employers to negotiate with their workers. they are obligated to do that under the collective bargaining agreement, the federal regulations of the right to organize, and the notion of freedom itself. human beings are free, and they will use that freedom to organize, assemble and demand justice, fairness. unless the people are themselves subverted.

@pdxlinux The American industry was protected from competition by any number of economic measures. And all that did was make the industry too lazy to compete in a global market and cripple it. Now the world sends vehicles globally, with the exception of the US in the West, who import cars and import components for the cars they "make"..😷

@pdxlinux US customers look to buy quality vehicles that look good and are safe, reliable and fuel efficient. If they don’t see GM vehicles providing those features then they will look at other brands.
No amount of protection is going to help that situation.

GM is one of the few American automakers that has chosen to drop AppleCarplay from its vehicles in favor of creating its own in-house solution.

Over 80% of new car buyers expect their new vehicle to have AppleCarplay.

The list of manufacturers that support AppleCarplay is extensive and includes Porsche, Form, Hyundai, Alfaromeo, Toyota and many more.

The car market is a very competitive market be it from the bottom level to the luxury level.
GM have got themselves into the position where they just don't compete and offer what the consumer actually wants where ever they are be it in America or on foreign markets. There are simply to many far better options available and often at cheaper price.

GM sells many cars in China.

Automobiles are sold globally.

@JSul3 GM only sells cars outside the US that are made by overseas subsidiaries, 😷

@whowasthatmaskedman That is true....for the same reasons Toyota, VW, Hyundai, Honda, etc have factories here in the US.
My point is that GM sold more vehicles in China than in the US.
