I Love Europe

Huge crowds are gathering in central London this afternoon (3/23/2019) to demand another public say to “stop the Brexit madness”, with hundreds of thousands yet to set off.

I love you. I love you. You are the ones. You are the future. You are not stuck in the past. You are looking forward. You know where our common future is. It is in Europe. Our Europe. Our home.

I would want to kiss all of you if I could. Stay strong. Stay with us. We are family. You are in good company.

Europeans of all countries unite! 🇪🇺 🌷

Just want to keep voting till you get the results you want. It's too late for thar now

@jetpack That's called "democracy". People can change their mind. That's why we have new elections every four years or so.
Would you want to vote only one time in your life?
@helenS sooner or later action has to be taken. Should the EU just wait till Brittons make up their fickle minds. By the way parliamentary government is not a pure democracy. It would just be mob rule if any government tried to run that way.

@helenS In 2016 voters were told, by the government, both major parties and both campaigns, that this was a once-for-all decision and that the result would be respected. I’m sorry, but the analogy with general elections is quite false.

@MartinII I get your point.
I think that once-and-for-all decisions of "the people" are very often a bad idea. The ability to reconsider, and to change decisions, is a core element of democracy. And that's the problem with any referendum. It relies on the myth of a "general will" of the people, which will never change.
How long will the result of a referendum be valid? One year? A decade? A century?

@jetpack mob rules and mentality. We want free shit! Help us keep our free shit! We don't wanna work! Help!

@helenS Good points. But in this case a timetable is provided for by Article 50, so everyone voting knew, or thought they knew, that if Leave won we would leave in two years, plus a little preparation time. The government could and should have stuck to that timetable.

@MartinII Yes you are right, and I ask myself why it takes so long. People were told leaving is easily done.
@helenS opposition parties are trying to inflict as much political damage as possible. Think about that. Every blocked measure or vote to bring the separation to its expected end has been done without care to the citizens they were elected to represent.

@helenS The short answer is that the British government made a complete mess of the negotiations!
