I Love Europe

Huge crowds are gathering in central London this afternoon (3/23/2019) to demand another public say to “stop the Brexit madness”, with hundreds of thousands yet to set off.

I love you. I love you. You are the ones. You are the future. You are not stuck in the past. You are looking forward. You know where our common future is. It is in Europe. Our Europe. Our home.

I would want to kiss all of you if I could. Stay strong. Stay with us. We are family. You are in good company.

Europeans of all countries unite! 🇪🇺 🌷

I hope it rains... 😒

@Quizzical Haha! You're a nice guy but we disagree on this! 😁
Then you could just change the name of it all to Eurasia. Then to solve the language barrier start teaching Newspeak in the schools. In a generation or too when you get control of the language you’ll also them control the rhetoric. All while erasing history...that’s very very important. Culture, history and sovereignty, it’s gotta be hauled out to the dumpster. @Quizzical

@Quizzical Unfortunately, it’s a lovely day here in London!

@helenS I love you to bits, and I have lots of European friends, but the EU is doing us no favours, and these demonstrations are trying to buck our democratic system, and that sets a dangerous precedent.

We had a vote, a majority decision was reached, and that should have been the end of it.

These are a bunch of spoiled children spitting their collective dummies out because things didn't go the way they wanted.

@MartinII Damn...
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@DukeOfEarle So some would wish I'm afraid
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Quizzical True, though to be fair they have been encouraged by the appalling mess the government and parliament have made of trying to implement the referendum result.
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@MartinII Oh, it's been an almighty balls up with too many MPs trying to force their own remain agendas instead of applying what the country wanted.

This is actually a MUCH bigger issue than just Brexit, it's a test of how our democracy and government works, and it's proving to be wanting.
Yup. Orwell’s date was off by a few decades but no one reads anymore. @Quizzical

@MartinII Even the weather gods are with us! 😀
Quizzical · 46-50, M
@DukeOfEarle Tell me about it... Rather than a warning I think they are using 1984 as an instruction book 🙄
MartinII · 70-79, M
@helenS Yes. There’s probably an Erasmus-funded project designed to enable Brussels to control the weather! 😉
Right??? Seriously scary. But they’ve had control of the education system for a few decades so today’s generation has no clue. All today’s generaton has been raised to expect is handouts. Working is for suckers. The government should give me what I want. Oh they’ll give you something alright. Just like governments have in the past. It’s when they later come to take, that’s when the outrage and the tears start. And by then its too late. @Quizzical

@DukeOfEarle I completely agree.

I have no issue with trading with the EU, or even open borders.

I object to them having any form of politcal say in how we run our country...

I also object to us being used as a convenient piggy-bank to support the EU in general.
You really should have an issue with open borders! Ultimately, it means the cultural suicide of any nation that embraces that folly!

Note, e.g., that NO Moslem nation embraces it! Why? They want to retain their own culture, religion and ethnicity!

Does Saudi Arabia except even one of these so called “refugees” from Africa or the Near East!? No! With good reason. It would mean their downfall and they well understand that!

@Quizzical
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Thorstormbringer To be fair, the EU only requires open borders within the EU. I agree with @Quizzical on that.
However, what they require goes much further than that! They want the member nations to take in, house, feed and supply basically an endless stream if “refugees!” It will in the end destriy the Europe you know!

@MartinII
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Thorstormbringer I quite agree with that. The difference of course is that thas is a policy which the EU has chosen to adopt and could change in future, whereas free movement within the EU is non-negotiable.
helenS · 36-40, F
@MartinII "free movement within the EU is non-negotiable.
— Yes. It's one of the four freedoms we have, and the most noble and significant one (the other three are free movement of goods, services, and capkital). It's because of this free movement of all Europeans that Europe is owned by the people, and not only by businessmen trying to make a decent profit, in foreign countries. It's our Europe. We are Europe. Come on Martin!
