I remember hearing a lot about recycling back in the early 90's and thinking, "Wouldn't that be impractical and expensive?"

Cause too many types, colors, having to clean out food containers etc. I think like 90% of stuff sent for recycle ends up in landfills. Even if they did all that, it would create as much pollution as it stopped.

Of course it might just be companies trying to make themselves look like they are trying to avoid pollution when they push recycle.

I'm old enough to remember the milk man delivering and collecting bottles who also delivered those deep freezer ice cream tubs.
As well the Snyder's pretzel truck. I don't how far their reach was.
Exactly. I miss glass!

Every thing used to be glass. Glass recycle was a thing. Now none of the recycle centers take glass.

@Confined I talked to the guys at our county landfill exchange years ago about that. 1st off FYI the landfill is full and everything is shipped out now.
The problem with recycling glass is there are no buyers. There's to much separating involved by type and color and the remelting and blending process is more expensive than metals. No profits no actions. Cardboard and metals are the only true useable and processed recyclables.
