People still think climate change is a hoax?

Alright, the world has existed for millions of years and humans have lived on it for millennia also. But the drastic changes happening in the natural world around us is alarming.

How do these deniers not see it?

What d'yall think? Is the whole climate change debate a bogeyman unleashed for I don't know what reasons.

Or is it something real that we all are responsible for?

They do, or can, see it; but do not want to.

Each will have his or her own reasons, but few if any say what those are. Instead they tend just to go on the offensive, calling climate change a hoax or lie.

Or they do not deny the climate is changing but attempt to use natural changes such as the Ice Age's fluctuations to explain it, without understanding it.

However, I think two possible reasons for still trying to deny that something is happening and human actions are very much part of it, are -

- strong political or commercial interests,

- understandable fears of reductions in their own very comfortable, profligate private lives.

I wonder too, if some who flatly deny anthropogenic climate change might do so simply because they genuinely find anything scientific difficult to grasp; but rather than have the courage and honesty to seek explanations they can comprehend, they try feebly to hide their ignorance by simply attacking science. (Very ironically too, if via the Internet.)

@ArishMell

That’s because it is a hoax 🤦🏼‍♀️

Science is corrupted and paid for by the same ones pushing climate change.

What a time to be alive lol 😑

@SW-User Best end your social-media accounts, sell your computer or 'phone or whatever, get rid of your car, TV, radio, microwave oven, turn off your home's electricity and water...

.... for they all rely on science which you despise and think all a hoax.

Just keep believing their bs lol 😂

@ArishMell we deny it because it's been a lib construct designed launder our tax dollars into their pockets since the 50s. Nothing the libs claim will happen ever happens!

@TexChik Ah - so your stance is based purely on America's commerce-driven party-politics?

Climate studies, like the natural sciences generally, are world-wide and although it it is for politicians in every country to decide how to use the knowledge in their own land, the science itself is above and beyond petty arguments between two parties in one nation.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@SW-User Those denying climate-change is happening have their own reasons for doing so, but cannot deny something is happening just because they don't want it to happen or it goes against some party-political dogma.

No-one wants it to happen, though whether our approaches to staving it off will work, remain to be seen. If they fail, God help us all...

I know how rotten the people that run the world are, their puppet governments, NASA, the media, the scientists, universities etc all part of it.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@SW-User Who are the people you allege "run the world"?

Even the UN can't do that, given how argumentative everyone is.

Even the EU, of only about 26 nations of broadly similar outlook, systems and living-standards, survives in spite of itself.

Do you really imagine all those bodies you list all work in cahoots to push some sort of hoax impossible to create and sustain? I know some people do but I'd assumed you are above that barmy fantasy.

If nothing else, to do that would need all over-200 nations to work in concert they find extremely difficult normally on relatively innocent things like trade.

On climate change and other serious environmental problems, most countries do agree broadly but they are all still looking after themselves first, many are hostile to each other, and their own governments can only address the problem as they see fit for their own country. They accept what the scientists tell them but how they react depends largely on their own needs and dogmas.

Really, humanity's future is very gloomy for several reasons; maybe not in my life, but possibly in yours, very likely in our grandchildren's or great-grandchildren's time. Trying to ignore why, or passing it off as imagined and illogical hoaxes, won't help us and won't help them.

@SW-User That's a perfect summation of the strength of the strategy in getting people to act against what's in their own best interest. And it's so easy to take hold with certain kinds of people.

You've been strategically lied to, and you believe it, and now your world is seemingly driven by enemies. That's what you've been taught. And then you get around those like yourself and you feed each other.

You have one life to live and you're living it for those who see you as nothing but a mark. They get rich and you become bitter, angry, distrusting and full of grievance. All it would take is a little self respect to consider WHY you feel that way and WHO benefits from it. But that won't happen. The hooks are in to deep.

And then, if you're lucky, you'll be an old person on your death bed and you'll ask yourself it it was all worth it. You'll wonder if you lived your best life. Your answer will be 'no' but then it's too late.

What a waste.

@Ynotisay

Nope you’ve been lied to, honestly I won’t have any regrets speaking out.

I wasn’t lied to, I could see that things never add up and I did my own research, I’m the kind of person that sits on the fence until I can look at things from every angle.

I can see the lies and deceit, many can’t which is why I speak up.

Im not bitter angry, I have self respect, more so now I can see the truth. The hooks are deep in you and you can’t see it yet.

And when I’m on my death bed! I’ll be happy I spoke my truth, lived in truth!
That I had the courage to speak up against them.

One day I hope you see what I can see. 😁

Zionists run the world, have done for years, before you were born, they created the banking system to keep us enslaved.

You should look into it.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@SW-User Look into it ... You mean neo-Nazi sites on the "dark web"?

Anyway, who or what are "Zionists", by your definition?
SW-User
@ArishMell

I’ve not been on the dark web or Nazi sites.

I’m wasting my time here clearly.

😇
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@SW-User I did not say you use the dark web, but your idea that the world is controlled by so-called "Zionists" (however you define them) is very much aligned with Nazi ideology.

As well as absurd and illogical.

The biggest two economic powers in the world are not even Jewish! They are:

1) the United States of America, whose capitalist money-men are from all backgrounds but most are descendants of European Christians,

and

2) the People's Republic of China. A hard-line Communist, imperialist country in which the Abrahamic religions and cultures were always a tiny minority even before the avowedly anti-religious Communists took power.

That's the present order. The PRC aims to overtake the USA and Europe to become Number One, and is on track to succeeding, in some years' or even decades' time. Because it is a cohesive, carefully-planned, ruthless totalitarian state it has the skill, stability and patience to win.

So no "Zionism" there, however you define "Zionism". (It is really only a statement of Jewish religious and cultural solidarity.)

The USA also welcomed many Jews fleeing the Nazis before WW2.
The PRC is actively and cruelly converting its tiny Muslim minority to the government-approved Chinese way of life. (Some call it "genocide", but that is wrong.)

@ArishMell the onus is on you to prove it is happening for the reasons you say. The only constant in climate is its change. Remember the immanent ice age of 1974?.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 There was no imminent ice-age. I recall the brief flurry of excitement but it soon faded, presumably because it was based on poor reporting of a mistaken hypothesis.

No-one says the climate never changes. What they say is the current rate of change is too rapid for it to be entirely natural. This possibility was raised early last century when coal was the universal fuel; and it is coming to pass as predicted it would, but sooner than predicted.

The onus in you to do as I do: read, listen to, look at, what is happening around the world, to understand what scientists and governments from around the world have been telling us all, especially those in the nations most likely to suffer the worst effects.

I would also ask you why you want to continue to deny something is going wrong and it is humanity to blame.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@ArishMell do you don't remember the cove of Time Magazine and their headline of the year about the Doon to be experienced ice age. I am sure a quick internet search will show it.

@ArishMell The entirely discounted "Ice Age" story from Time in the mid-70's is STILL held on to by the brainwashed. It blows my mind. Outside of the fact that even at the early time when we were just learning about the role of greenhouse gases, the majority of scientists believed the planet was warming. But what gets me is that they don't believe science or media, but they believe that. It's pitiful.

Need to know basis

Just because you work in it, doesn’t mean you know what’s really going go on.

Believe me I know how it works 😌
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@SW-User when I was a kid I knew a conspiracy theorist that insisted the world was run by a small cabul that he couldn't identify. He was a source of great mirth to me. Sadly as the years have gone on and I started to question he isn't so funny anymore. From the evidence I see he was in large part correct.
SW-User
@hippyjoe1955
Yeah I knew things from being young, I was told things at 14/15, over the years i understood more about the world, it’s hard to explain that to people who can’t see it.

Never has it been more evident how bad things are and we still have people protecting the ones that want to destroy us.

I don’t understand it 😏
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@SW-User yeah it's bit strange. Mass killing by covid and vax yet people still trust "The Science". Why do people still put their blind faith in such known killers?. I don't know.
