“How Dare You!” – Five Years Ago Today, Climate Change Hoaxer Greta Thunberg Said the World Would End

Today marks the anniversary of a doomsday prediction made by then-15-year-old climate change hoaxer Greta Thunberg.

On June 21, 2018, she made a bold claim on Twitter, stating that humanity had a narrow five-year window to stop the use of fossil fuels or face inevitable extinction.

“A top climate scientist is warning that climate change will wipe out all of humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years.”
“A top climate scientist is warning that climate change will wipe out all of humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years.”
Missing context.

While Thunberg did delete a 2018 tweet about the urgency of addressing climate change, she did not say the world would end in 2023. Her tweet included a quote from an article that said an influential scientist warned climate change “will wipe out all humanity” unless fossil fuel use was ended “over the next five years.”

Further complicating the issue, that article incorrectly summarized the scientist’s speech. He never made such comments.

@SW-User Missing Context? Really?

She DID make the tweet as you admitted. The article she quoted said the scientist claimed we would all be dead in five years.

The article may have been incorrect - but she still quoted it.

So, where's the missing context?

@Budwick The missing context is that far-right climate-change deniers such as yourself claimed that she said that we would literally be DEAD in five years if we didn't stop fossil fuel use.

In fact, she said (in her incorrect summation) that we face extinction if fossil fuel use is not eliminated within five years.

Mock her if you must for getting the article wrong, but don't mock her for something she never claimed.

@SW-User She bought they hype - just like you have.
What's the difference if she summarized incorrectly or not.
What she said was wrong.
Couple that with her arrogant attitude makes it delicious for those that disagree with her.

Please, stop defending the indefensible.
Greta fucked up.

@Budwick Fine, she fucked up. But I didn't believe it myself. I do believe however that climate change is real, and man made, and we are fucked if we don't rapidly cut emissions. I'm not giving a timeline cos no-one can, but we will be fucked.
SW-User
@Budwick Also, old man, there is no hype. Climate change is real, and caused by man, and we are screwed if we don't cut emissions, whether you like it or not. You'll be fine though; you'll be dead. Your grandchildren, however...

@SW-User So, you had to resort to the 'old man rhetoric'. eh?

I know I'm old, it is not breaking news.
And, the climate has been changing ever since there has been climate.
That's not news either.
SW-User
@Budwick and the fact that you deny man made climate change is not news either, old man
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SW-User Oh no! You called me old!

I need a safe place now!

Bring my bubbles, stat!
