Climate Change vs. Conservation

I think it is common sense. We have one planet and we have to take care of it. Period. Let's take politics out of that part. Recycle, Reuse and Reclaim.

I took a college course on Conservation and it stuck. I have very little garbage.

Let the politicians kill each other over this. I am doing my part.

If they are conservatives then why not follow the conservative way? Many methods regarding how things were done in the past can be used today to help the environment. Consume less- people in the past would only buy what's necessary, now we have so many artificial needs. Eat less meat, like how people used to because they actually had animals of their own. Eat what's in season. Reuse things, don't throw away, try to fix them first. People used to patch their clothes and pass them to the next generation. We can carry our own things instead of buying single use plastic. Use less water and more environmentally friendly cleaning products. We can't be perfect and of course everybody prefers the easy way instead of inconveniencing ourselves a little bit, but the way middle aged people have gone crazy over policies about plastic bags and straws is beyond me, like did you not pay attention to how your parents used to live before overconsumerism became the norm?

@HannibalAteMeOut it’s not that easy what you’re saying isn’t that easy sounds good but it’s not
Funlov · M
@HannibalAteMeOut what do you mean the middle age people I’m middle age I’m not crazy, so what are you talking about?
Funlov · M
@HannibalAteMeOut so middle ages anybody 4038 and above so I’m not getting ya you might wanna look back at what you wrote
Funlov · M
@HannibalAteMeOut our generation isn’t the one running around marching for everything our generation is the one they got educated so I don’t understand. Are you blaming us?
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@Funlov that's why I said it's inconvenient. Of course I believe companies and governments play the big part. But I try not to be mindless about it myself. Why would I buy all this plastic when I know where it goes and what it does? I prefer to keep my conscience clean and at least my grandparents' generation has taught me a lot about how there are multiple ways to do things without the need to consume more and more.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@Funlov I'm not blaming anyone, I just gave an example of how I've heard people complaining about those small things.
Funlov · M
@HannibalAteMeOut my generation is not to blame we’re not the ones out marching for stupid things like the environment and Black Lives Matter and everything else instead of doing things and fixing things we’re not out marching like the younger generation world enough to think for ourselves, we’re not brainwashed and go out in March or parents Reggie caters were business owners
Funlov · M
@HannibalAteMeOut I’m just quoting what you wrote
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@Funlov I don't know what you misunderstood from what I wrote but I think I was clear and you're taking the context to a completely different dimension.
Funlov · M
@HannibalAteMeOut ok if you say so but I look at it twice
@HannibalAteMeOut I think one of the problems is that "conservative" now stands for protecting capitalism, carrying the underlying assumption that resources are unlimited and therefore continuous economic growth and profit is possible. It has become so insane that Musk expects to mine Mars.

Yet it would be possible to practise a conservative economics that limits its profits to means that cause no harm to climate, ecosystems and life on Earth. Where there's a will there is are many ways.
HannibalAteMeOut · 22-25, F
@hartfire most elderly people I know are conservative and if they heard about the Mars thing they'd think it's insane... and the type of capitalism we have achieved nowadays makes overconsumerism almost inevitable. How is that even conservative? That's why it annoys me as a term. There are left wing conservatives (marxist-leninists) and there are right wing neoliberals of course. Whatever someone is I find it illogocal how they can't comprehend we need to take some steps to protect our home. The same way we would care to keep our house clean. Then again many people even fail at that, so...
Funlov · M
@HannibalAteMeOut what’s the mars think ?
Funlov · M
So many
akindheart · 61-69, F
@HannibalAteMeOut Exactly. we are the throwaway society. When good can come out of garbage, it should. We can't drink out water in our state. I have to drink filted water. When i buy bottled for hurricanes, i recycle all of those.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Funlov but our generation can make a difference. we are consuming as much if not more than the younger generation. We have to set an example.
