I Care About The Environment

Maybe it's the Native American in me but I really hate seeing people litter and trash the environment. Nature is beautiful, I don't understand people how people can be so careless about ruining it.

Guessing you may be feeling especially disappointed about that oil pipeline - only a few hundred protesters still left and defying the eviction order.
The way capitalism rapes the planet is tragic and shameful.
I am but I'm really not surprised. Our side never wins.
@Tulips: Like elsewhere in the world, in Australia, activists have won a few battles - far from all.
We stopped the rutile mining of beaches, the dredging of Myall Lakes, the damming of the Franklin River, and the fracking of coal seam gas in the Northern Rivers of NSW. We now have an Environmental Defenders' Office full of lawyers and specialist environmentalists to help advise government and keep activists informed on legislation. We have charities like Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace, the World Wildlife Fund, and Wildlife Information and Rescue Service. We have scientists working in every field of the environment and meteorology. Some particularly sensitive areas have been saved as national parks. People have begun converting to solar electricity and renewables such as wind, hydro, and geothermal are booming. Sometimes we won compromises - forcing legislation so that mining companies would have to prevent tailings pouring toxins into rivers and wetlands and remediate the land back to its natural state after the mines are exhausted. Other battles have been hopelessly lost. The hardest thing is that there is always another cause. Trying to maintain the energy without burning out is painfully difficult at times. But the effects of doing nothing are worse. To fight for nature helps to keep us sane.
