Has Anyone Switched Laundry Detergents Yet?

Keep on seeing these ads for those laundry detergent strips. I tried a sample once. Laundry came out clean and smelling good. Hesitant to make the switch though. Anyone switched yet?

haven't seen ads. I'd be hesitant to jump in whole hog.

@stound it seems so much better than the bottles for the environment. its just like the same stuff without the water i think
@Penny it makes me wonder why, if so much of the detergent is just water, they don't see concentrated refill stuff that you put in the bottle and add hot water or something to just 'reload'. I suspect there's bigger things at work.

@stound hmm. it is strange. im hoping tide switches to the strips.
@Penny are you aiming for better environmental effect or something else?

@stound purely for the environment. i love my simply tide with oxi lol. thats good advice you gave though to not like sign up for a subscription until it's well tried out. thanks :)
@Penny you could also try the super cheap, made at home stuff

which may well not work as well as tide but $20 to make enough for [if it works well] 300-600 loads of laundry seems like a decent thing to try (and it'd be all about the reuse kinda thing) -

@stound ive actually tried that stuff. it seems to work good but over time the clothes get a funny smell to them and like it leaves a residue

@stound i guess switching to powder would have the same desirable effect of not using plastic bottles. never thought of that. they usually come in boxes.
@Penny ah, I'd always kinda wanted to try it. I wonder if you could fix the residue problem with a soap other than ivory.

@stound i used a dawn dish soap recipe. someone explained that the homemade formula is lacking enzymes. it works pretty good though in a pinch. clothes come out looking and smelling clean. idk why they develop a smell sitting in the closet though after awhile. maybe like if you alternated it would be okay. or maybe added some vinegar to the wash or something idk. want me to try and find my old recipe that i used to use?
