Massive heat waves across the globe: Why should we be concerned about it?

Recently, European nations are in the news not because of some EU issue or rising political tensions in European countries. It's because of the heat waves that Europe never expected. It's not just Europe that is experiencing this climate change. Almost every country on the planet is experiencing it. Simply because our planet is undergoing a major climate change. A change that isn't positive, rather alarming.

What's causing this climate change?

Well, our ignorance and disrespect towards Mother Nature for a long time is the primary reason.

Climatologists conclude that the heat waves across the globe are a result of climate change, El Niño, and human-driven greenhouse gas emissions. Scientists say that we humans have been burning fossil fuels for years, and that has raised the temperature by 1.2°C (2.2°F). The extra heat traps more energy in the atmosphere, increasing the intensity, duration, and frequency of heat waves.

The El Niño event acted as a catalyst to the climate change by adding a natural layer of warming. El Niño affected the ocean and atmospheric patterns, and this pushed more heat around tropical and subtropical regions.

Cities with dense buildings (i.e., concrete jungles) and less green belt trap heat that further adds to the problem. We humans love concrete houses more than nature; there's no denying it.

Why do climatologists find this alarming?

The polar ice is melting, and forests are dying at a faster pace than the predicted models. Some regions on the planet have already passed the wet-bulb temperature point, i.e., above 35°C (95°F). Humans can no longer cool themselves after sweating, and this is fatal for humans. 2023 and 2024 were recorded as the hottest years ever. Some regions of North America, Europe, India, and China recorded temperatures between 45 and 50°C (113 and 122°F), and some regions recorded temperatures beyond 50°C (113°F). Oceans are hitting record temperatures, coral reefs are dying and marine ecosystems are experiencing the damage too.

Climatologists clearly state that climate change cannot be reversed, but it can be slowed down. Now, the question is, will we humans listen to them and take their words on a serious note? History states that humans change only when Mother Nature teaches us an unforgettable lesson. Well, we forget the lesson as the time passes by.

I remember how Earth literally started healing during pandemic lockdown. It was a proof that the less the humans interfere with the climate, the more beneficial it is for our planet. Things were back to usual the moment life resumed. Shame on us humans!

Just imagine the havoc we humans will witness if we do not act on it accordingly. We witness urban strain, border tensions, and climate refugees. We won't be able to save ourselves from ecological collapse, i.e., wildfire-triggered extinctions and the imbalance in nature. The economic challenges like infrastructure damage, higher cooling costs, and dissolution of insurance services would bother us a lot. Total chaos! What if it's a global catastrophe? God forbid! 🙏

We must save our planet before it's too late! 🌍 🌎 🌏

Saving the planet does not mean sitting in the middle of the road like stupid people and blocking the traffic. Protests are good only when they do not cause trouble for others.

May God save us from the wrath...🙏

We shouldn't ignore this harsh reality as well:

The last couple years we have even seen heat waves in the Canadian Arctic, but right wingers still want to pretend their SUVs run on consequence free pixie dust.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Be it the right, centre, or left, every group has elitists who are relying on an extremely dangerous theory: let there be more exploitation of resources, and by the time we reach the saturation point, we'll have the technology to save us from the disasters then. I mean seriously, they are not worried about the future of this planet at all. What if catastrophe strikes before we reach the saturation point? 🤷‍♂

@SoLeRiMix Lets not pretend it is a "both sides" thing. Only one side has effectively declared facts and science to be witchcraft on behalf of people who know better but will be dead of old age before there are real serious consequences but will line their pockets and make it someone else's problem.

@SoLeRiMix This is not a “very fine people on both sides” thing. This is purely a far-right agenda led by the billionaire class to essentially cook the planet so they can buy up what little is left.

@iamthe99 I just don't understand why you are upset with me, mate.😇

You have your point of view and I have mine. You believe the right and far-right folks are responsible. I respect your opinion. There's no denying that most trouble makers are allies of right and far-right parties across the globe. However, left and centre has similar allies too. The only difference is left and centre ensure that there's not much noise about it (i.e., they cover their trails well), while right and far-right boast about it without giving a damn about what others think about it because they know nobody has the guts to anything about it as they have all the power.

I don't like the right and far-right ideology, but I am quite convinced now that democracy is an delusion created to cover the invisble autocracy. It's fine if you disagree with me, but I have reason to believe that be it right, left, or, centre; all have done nothing but harmed the world.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Brother, I hope you understand my perspective. I have nothing against how you perceive things. You have your way. I have mine. I hope this won't cause tension between us.🤝
