Still Polluted After The Tar Plant Vacated 65 Years Ago.
Caerphilly Mountain is massive it also stores a tremendous amount of water, a Brook suddenly appears from a limestone rock, up until 1930 this Brook near my home was freshwater there were fish living in it, according to my late Grandparents.
In 1930 a Commercial business started up a Tar Plant which contaminated land by the Brook, this company left Caerphilly in 1959 all their buildings were demolished there's nothing left to say this industrial plant was ever there bar for the land they left contaminated, and the contaminated Brook which flows into the Rhymney River into Cardiff then into the Bristol Channel.
The Brook is still Brown even after sixty five years have passed since the Tar Plant disappeared.
And this is why it is important to prevent this type of abuse of the environment, before it happens. Back in the day science was unable to predict with such detail what could happen. Just think about what the US practice of "fracking" for oil is doing to the ground water reserves so many Americans still rely on for drinking water..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman Exactly what they thought that's my opinion only that hasn't happened,
Welsh Water are chasing these Brooks I expect they'll get this sorted out, I've started mentioning this in the right places, the local Council don't like spending any money that's one of the problems, this is on-going.
@senghenydd Getting action from"authorities" can be a challenge. I have always found hard copy letters by registered mail (archaic as it is) Direct to a person by name, so they cant say (we werent aware) then lay out your issue and the steps you followed, add the possible consequences in terms of law suits and cost of non action and politely advise them you will be providing all this to the media and any injured parties, usually gets the wheels moving..Its amazing how fast even public servants can move when they feel their @R$e is exposed..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman I am working in an area which I'm not going to discuss, I am providing info to a group of people who are far more active about conservation than I am, I'm dealing with the right people so hopefully something good should turn out over this, lets hope so.
I've looked into the contamination report of the site it's contaminated to a depth of 5 metres over a large area the new purchasers of the site are trying to duck the issue of soil removal, they hoped to develop the site for housing but when the costs reached their desks they dropped the idea and think the contamination will just go away.
@Pretzel I haven't any test equipment for testing the amount of pollution this Brook has only I was told before that Tar Plant polluted that Brook it was well stocked with fish, also the brown colour isn't right.
