Once in every 50 years maybe. I can't share a pic because the last time I saw it, I was a kid in the backseat of a car on the interstate. Dad was not going to stop for a photo op.

[@594425,Casheyane] Yes, it is. It had been a beautiful trip to begin with. We were returning from visiting family where we had a wonderful time. Seeing the "northern lights", as we used to call them, put the crown on that vacation.

Once in a while my daughter can see them out of her window depending on the strength of the solar winds. She lives in a condo on the 20th floor downtown Toronto and her windows face north.

[@1220692,Jenny1234] Sounds beautiful.
It must be calming to see it first thing when you look out the window.

Not right now it is daylight. Yes I often see the northern lights. I have seen them dance and shimmer and explode. I have even heard them.

I can't see it here but I have seen and heard it many times. The aurora borealis also makes a faint sound that sounds like clapping and some people will tell you that it is the sound of the Gods clapping for a spectacular show. I highly recommend that you go out of your way to see it because it is a way cool experience. Cheers!
No not where I live but if we have one of those massive solar flares or what ever they are called like what happened after the civil war then we could see it and who knows what else would happen.

Not from Southern England - it's too far South, though I gatherit has showed on very rare occasions as a faint, coloured glow in the Northern sky.

I have been lucky to see them properly though, one night while on holiday in Norway - wonderful, and they did not look as I'd expected from photographs.

I can see them where I live. They are stunning.
