why is tv so utterly crap now

just seeing some of the 'entertainment' on offer on english tv, and if it weren't so pathetic...just really bad programs most foreign imported, if i didn't laugh i would cry, it's sooo bad...then there's the constant ad breaks which drive you to madness...why have standards dropped so very low?

Advertising revenue is at an all time low thanks to streaming.
Movie studios have had to downsize significantly since same.
Nobody wants to invest in new drama. No matter how good it is.
