In A,Small Town I Grew Up In Theres A,Bar Called The Elks Its Like A,Fraternity You Have To Get Voted in To Be A,Member

The Elks were in my small hometown. And The Lions and The American Legion and others. These were fraternal orders that were mostly an excuse for men to get out in the evenings and drink.

Both elks and moose lodges were very popular back 50 years ago.

They are popular among both hunters and veterans. Went with my babysitter to the moose lodge as a kid. Played bingo in fact there.

VFW is the same thing BTW but for veterans only.

Not in my neck of the woods in this day and age.
