Just a random vent... nothing as intense as my usuals.

I have an important exam coming up, and failing would mean repeating the residency year (I can't afford to do that, I'd rather just resign tbh) ... and as much as I try to shut down any devices and focus, I can't help overthinking about the many discoveries I learnt recently about myself, and I find myself scrolling down, reading what I wrote in my past posts and trying to make sense of everything. I think it started to become a doorway to escape from the stress of the exam.

Perhaps it was the wrong time to do all that self discovery, but you can't really control that, can you?

Heh, I really need to shut my mind off and focus on memorizing my lectures.

Wish me luck!

Ytwo items have I got you. The first is called "box breathing. Four second inhale through nose, hold for seven seconds, then exhale from mouth for eight seconds. That is one type of box breathing. Then there's the original inhale 4 seconds, hold 4 seconds, exhale 4 seconds. The second item is mind mapping. This one is a little hard for me to describe, so you might want to Google it. Hope this helps a little.

@powernap Thank you for that, I already use it, but thanks for the reminder.

@Friendlyperson which one?
Friendlyperson · 26-30, F
@powernap The first one, I use it before I go to sleep. Regularly. It helps tremedously.

@Friendlyperson how long did it take for you to be able to do it on a consistent basis?

@powernap I started it 4 years ago, on and off. And then it became a habit when the stress became too much. I also need it in my nightshifts, where sleep is crucial whenever you have time off, not matter how awake you feel. So I use it to get the maximum of sleep, even if it is for a 30min or so.

@Friendlyperson I am not in the military, nor have I ever been, but the Army Rangers have a thing called a "power nap."

@powernap Yeah, it works like that actually. They call it 'military breathing' or military sleeping method.
