That's a nice idea. It would be a shame to miss out on a swim just because you had no costume with you 🙂

@QuietSophie Going swimming in our P.E. kit was a common occurrence. and didn't only happen during unexpected swims; if you forgot swimwear for a scheduled swimming lesson you went in the water in your P.E. kit; it was as simple as that! The gym teachers never minded.

I think I would have enjoyed PE if we had boys and girls swimming in their PE kit like you had!
daniel4 · 61-69, M
@SW-User Yes I enjoyed it immensely and I know that many of the others (both boys and girls) did too."Forgetting" swimwear was something that happened often!

The rule these days seems to be no swimwear no swim!

@daniel4 When we were at school discipline was much stricter but somehow I think we were allowed to have more fun than kids do now.

@SW-User That's for sure. P.C. and health and safety get in the way of everything now unfortunately. You can't even fart these days without a risk assessment being done first!

Swimming was not part of my schooldays - we had no pool.

I can't say out of hand I "hated" PE because I liked certain activities; but I did not enjoy football. I was hopeless at it, and just not interested in sports like that, then and now.

Had we swum, I think it would have been trunks or no swimming, because white twill shorts are likely to become translucent when wet, and we were supposed to wear nothing under them!

Was indoor p e undertaken in bare feet of plimsolls?
Adec757 · 51-55, M
@daniel4 best way for gymnastics and apparatus
daniel4 · 61-69, M
@Adec757 we always wore the slip on type plimsolls rather than the lace up ones, what type did you wear?
Adec757 · 51-55, M
@daniel4 black elastic slip ons
