I’m just curious if it helps you to learn a new language. I started learning Italian with the help of this app and now I visit Italian courses at the adult education center to get talking.

just memorize a grammar book and AFTERWARDS spend 2 years 3 days a week doing online conversation meetings on preply while reading novels in the language

that's how I learned Spanish but before I learned it I wasted about 8 years doing dumb shit like duolingo

@SirLirkALot me too and the explanations they give additionally now, help a lot. It got better over the four years I'm using it.

@MellyMel22at first I felt like you and skipped back a lot. Now it's ok and old words get repeated.
Additional to Duolingo I listen to Italian podcasts for learners and watch Italian lessons on YouTube.

@Tracos a whole year is cheaper than one Italian course but everybody has to decide for themselves if its from any value.

I treat it just like a game. It's nice to catch new words but if I wanted to take learning seriously, I'd have to put much more effort into it.
