Anyone else here using Duolingo?

Trying to get into Dutch with Babbel, looks good up to now ...

I’m using it for a couple of things. It helps me with reading a language I spoke as a child.

I used it for years. Its great for grammar and vocabulary.

I use it ^•^ but I use a few other things too

that shit don't work

just memorize a grammar book and AFTERWARDS spend 2 years 3 days a week doing online conversation meetings on preply while reading novels in the language

that's how I learned Spanish but before I learned it I wasted about 8 years doing dumb shit like duolingo

I've never heard of that software program!

I speak English, though I have a bit of a Yopper accent.

I also know Morse code, which I love using on my radio over the weekends; I'm an amateur radio operator.

And I actually taught myself Dutch without any software at all! I know a little Spanish too, though my German is very rusty. I haven't spoken it daily for about 40 years, and you just tend to forget things over time, but it all comes rushing back at family reunions! 😅😅

it's a good warmup. afterwards i like to look up the verbs.

Not anymore... I had a paid account and made a full year streak...

Guess what... I can invite a library to an dinner in the park, but no way I can actually do a conversation

I find it okay to give a basic understanding of a language but not get any decent level of fluency.

I treat it just like a game. It's nice to catch new words but if I wanted to take learning seriously, I'd have to put much more effort into it.
