Anyone else here using Duolingo?

I’m just curious if it helps you to learn a new language.
I started learning Italian with the help of this app and now I visit Italian courses at the adult education center to get talking.

just memorize a grammar book and AFTERWARDS spend 2 years 3 days a week doing online conversation meetings on preply while reading novels in the language

that's how I learned Spanish but before I learned it I wasted about 8 years doing dumb shit like duolingo

I find it okay to give a basic understanding of a language but not get any decent level of fluency.

I treat it just like a game. It's nice to catch new words but if I wanted to take learning seriously, I'd have to put much more effort into it.
