Did you know: about carnation coral

They are quite pretty.

Carnation Corals (Dendronephthya sp.) are stunning, fast-growing soft corals known for vibrant red, pink, orange, and purple colors that resemble flower bouquets.

They are non-photosynthetic (azooxanthellate), meaning they rely entirely on capturing plankton in high-flow, deep-water environments.

They are considered extremely challenging to keep in reef aquariums.

Key Details About Carnation Coral:
Appearance & Behavior:
They have rigid, tree-like structures with small needle-like sclerites and, when threatened or closed, they can appear to deflate or disappear.
Dietary Needs: They must have constant, specialized feeding, including phyto-plankton, zooplankton, and, in some cases, baby brine shrimp.

Habitat: They are found in the Indo-Pacific, typically in caves, on overhangs, or in areas with strong, constant water currents.
Aquarium Care: Because they do not use light, they require low lighting but high water movement and pristine water conditions, making them suitable only for expert reef keepers
