I don't know. “Your goose is cooked” seems like a positive. Like someone saying, “Hey, dinner’s ready. We’re having goose.”

Don't think I like goose though. Not sure though. Never actually had goose before.

It's a very old expression, which I remember us mocking when I was at school (60s), because it was one of the Headmaster's favourite clichés as he was about to unleash his wrath upon an unfortunate. 'You've cooked your goose this time, young man.' Oh how we laughed...but not until later. 😂
