Don't lie. We learned about making butter in school and it sounded so cool. I was six.
My family was too broke to pay attention at the time and when I asked my dad for money to buy cream to make butter, he said we couldn't afford it.
When my brother and I walked up to the farm to buy milk, I lied and said my mother wanted cream but forgot the money for it.
My punishment was - to make butter and eat what I made. I shook it in a Mason jar for a year and a day until it got all clotted and nasty, and tasted the same way.
Lesson learned.
