I have to write a science report. No problem there. The professor wants the report section by section each week. Why cant we just have one solid deadline so that I can write my paper at my own pace??? 😡

I think that Professors sometimes do this in order to thwart cheating.

So the prof can make sure people are working on it and, hopefully, students will learn to not procrastinate until the last second.

@Sicarium: that's not needed though. If a student wants to pass, they will pace themselves in a timely fashion to avoid rushing to turn in assignments. Having to turn in a section on a weekly basis is more work for me.

@iamnikki: Yeah, it is needed. Students will generally wait as long as you let them. Profs don't want to see half their classes failing, it hurts the profs too.
