How am I supposed to trust Science if Pluto is no longer a planet?

Science doesn't hide the truth. When a discovery is made, it isn't hushed up if it contradicts an earlier theory.

In the case of Pluto, it's really just a matter of definition. Pluto falls outside the modern definition of "planet" but does meet the definition of "drawf planet".

@suzie1960: Then maybe truth is not the operative term, then?

@earthquakefish: You could be right. Science is the pursuit of truth. What appears to be true now might be found to be false as new information becomes available. The truth doesn't change, only our understanding of it.

Perhaps "facts" would be a better word to use. Science doesn't hide the facts (observations and results of experiements) even when those facts show a previous theory to be incomplete. Instead, it uses those facts to inprove the body of knowledge, allowing us to get closer to the truth.
