@JovialPlutonian: Technically would qualify as a computer scientist, though that is beside the point. Key to having an open mind is to allow it to change. I have plenty of faith in myself, I simply do not deny my shadow. I accept it so that I can assimilate it and evolve as a whole. We would all do well to accept our shadows, denial of it only leads to destructive behaviors as it then influences us subconsciously.

@JovialPlutonian: You must accept that the urges exist in order to be able to control them. Those parts of yourself that you don't understand are the ones that have the most power over you. They don't go away, that's not how the mind works, but you can transform and evolve them into productive forms.

Humans are innately predatory creatures, we're wired for violence and conflict. But at the same time the shadow is also the seat of creativity and those urges can be redirected into productive and creative impulse. One must accept and assimilate the shadow in order to evolve as a whole. The more in denial and separated from your shadow you are the darker and denser your shadow material becomes and its influence over you grows.

@JovialPlutonian: Nah, I know a lot about Astrology but I find it all to be a bunch of nonsense. You might find analytical psychology to your tastes though. In lieu of picking up Jung's own works at a book store(like I did) or taking some courses in it, wiki's not the worst imaginable source for such things.
