Is college the new kindergarten?

I graduated from college two years ago and already it seems very different from when I went.

"SJWs" have taken over campuses, and in cases like Evergreen state, mobs of angry black students scream at professors and corner them just for expressing their opinion (and the professors are already very liberal themselves!)

Do you expect to be "protected" from opinions you don't like in college?

No I don't expect to be protected from unfavourable opinions. And neither should the professors, which leaves a logical flaw in your post.

@LukeOnTheBrightSide: Not really. The professor who posted his opinion desired a dialogue. The students didn't want one. They just wanted to scream at him.
@RileyPancake: well what was the relevance of the students ethnicity in your post? And do you appreciate that labelling people with terms such as sjw, liberal snowflakes etc is an anti free speech device to try and shut people up, be honest now...

@RileyPancake: Are you talking about the black students who invaded the professor's class and hijacked the lesson even though he agreed with them? I saw the film of that and the professor interviewed. They wanted all white people to leave the campus and he was white and was still there teaching. Oh the horror. We are seeing this happening more and more all over the country. Just a couple weeks ago black students held the UC campus administration building hostage but they weren't clear in what they wanted. I guess they just wanted to demonstrate that they weren't suffering from "institutional racism". Wait until they get out in the real world. Their asses will be in jail if they try pulling that shit.

@LukeOnTheBrightSide: The relevance was that the original issue was due to a "day of absence" where all the white faculty and students were supposed to leave campus, and a white professor objected to it, which resulted in the mayhem. SJWs are SJWs. I call them like I see them. Same goes for "Islamic extremist", "white supremacist", etc. Sometimes the terms are inaccurately used, but in this case a spade is being called a spade.

@katielass: Yes, that's what I was referring to.

The UC thing is a bit more complicated. Recently the UC regents and president were revealed to have been spending millions of dollars on lavish parties and gifts (while raising tuition) so people were protesting their corruption. I'm not sure if these protestors you're referring to were part of the same group, though.
@RileyPancake: I'm in the uk and never heard about that. Well that is absurd behaviour. Still there are plenty of white and other students who misbehave, including at talks given by Milo. Yes, it is ok to describe a person's view such as Islamist extremist, but both the left and the right are guilty of just labelling someone who disagrees with them to shut down debate. In short I agree with your call for free speech, but I think you could have pointed out that all ethnicities are capable and involved in poor behaviour rather than pull out that one example for your post.

@RileyPancake: Yeah, I know about that but the incident I was referring to was different and it was before the lavish spending was exposed. They blocked the administration building and had a list of demands. They were all black students demanding special treatment. I guess the special treatment they were already getting wasn't enough. Actually, it's obviously part of a larger agenda and was orchestrated. There will be more.

@LukeOnTheBrightSide: I'm sure you are unaware that it is the left in our country who uses violence to shut down speech and prevent conservatives from being heard. the right can barely be heard, the are not in the habit of shutting down speech. And btw, it is not necessary to point to the fact that everyone is wrong at some point when speaking to the wrong behaviour of any particular group. It's a given.
@katielass: I didn't know the background and what happened to that professor is absurd. I don't know enough about us politics to agree or disagree with your shutting down debate view. Here in the uk we have a hugely imbalanced and biased right wing media.

@LukeOnTheBrightSide: Believe me, I'm not right wing. I've considered myself liberal for a long time. But these students are going too far and I think it's important for liberals like me to differentiate themselves from people who are essentially extremists. I agree that labels like "snowflake" shut down debate, but so do labels like "racist" when used inaccurately.
@RileyPancake: good argument, well made.
@RileyPancake:

I only recently found out what this meant!!
