It's pretty disgusting when a society destroys historical statues because they are offended. Oh my gawd. Is it so awful to have a pair of testicles?

When did it become cool to be spineless wimps? I am so disgusted by these sickening pansies and cupcakes that go to such lengths to prevent being offended, and spend most of their spare time thinking up more reasons to be offended. I hope I can offend every one of them as much as possible before I die.

Whats so important about the statues anyways?
@Nonexistent: The statues are from a time of segregation to honor those who died in the confederacy. They're important reminders that legal segregation was a thing along with its supporters. Pieces of history, including the original areas where civil rights activities occurred, that are being lost or torn down.

History classes no longer teach about this aspect of American history, either side, except for the sweeping generalization of "America once had slavery" and "back in the day people were separated by race", without any true explanation OF that history.

@EllaDisenchanted: Doesn't sound all that important. Are people upset about this because they believe that tearing down the staues somehow brainwashes the younger generations? The statues and the like are just irrelevant.
@Nonexistent: Not important? The same people behind tearing down these statues ALSO have allowed important places of history to rot or even be torn down.

The lunch counters where blacks sat against the laws of segregation and drank from the white water fountains and went to jail over it to protest injustice are mostly gone. All because this same mindset and lobby say it offends them to remember history that isn't rainbows and cupcakes.

If we destroy our own history then we have no foundation to forge our future. And if you can't see why that's important then you're part of the problem.

@EllaDisenchanted: Just because statues are removed doesn't mean we forget. History is not lost because of some statues.
@Nonexistent: No, history is lost because it's not taught. Our public schools no longer teach history, slanted or otherwise. Which is why physical reminders are often the only thing that gets someone to go "hmm...what's this all about now?". It's why we have museums to preserve history. But how many people these days go to museums? What of people without access?

If it's not being taught and history has no access in the real world, then you see almost no one reading history books nearly as much as they used to.....well how is anyone going to know let alone be willing to teach?

It's all one big circle of willfull ignorance.
@EllaDisenchanted: You have my respect and admiration. You have said this about as well as it could possibly be said. Thank you.

@EllaDisenchanted: Yes they are too busy reading EPA manuals in school today, indoctrination is cool. Math, history, english, real science are not useful in the group thought indoctrination process. Critical thinking, reasoning and logic need not apply.
@therighttothink50: My family moved out of Lancaster when I was a bit young and where we moved to didn't have a big community,so we were forced to go to mainstream public school. We were bullied, called redneck and hick, all that. But in the end I was one of the few in my grade that knew history and geography. There were a couple of teachers that aired me about the joys of high school and college, how much better it got because I'd meet people as well read and interested in the important things I tended to enjoy......
