Should teaching illegals or the children of illegals English come at the cost of decent education for kids who are in the us legally

School systems often cut programs like art, music, and even some sports and reassign these teachers as esol teachers to accommodate illegals. People that are not even supposed to be in the U.S.

@FloorGenAdm: i think they messed up and meant ESL- english as a second language, and for a teacher to teach anything they must qualify to do so
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@ForNever: in ga its called esol= English speakers of other languages
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@ForNever: and it doesn't take much qualification a friend my mom was reassigned to be an esol teacher and all she had to do was take a few classes at the local college

@Mountainlady16: True... but qualification is still needed- and if a teacher chooses to teach ESOL/ESL - then that's on her.

@ForNever: it was either that are lose her position with the county they cut out art cause their school needed a full time esol teacher.

@Mountainlady16: Art classes are being cut out in many states due to funding. If that district deems it necessary to fun student's education- then that is at the discretion of the school. There are political events in all communities- where people are free to bring up issues they feel should be addressed. If this impacts you greatly *then why not make a movement you deem necessary for your community ?

@ForNever: my daddy says you dont need an art or music teacher to do an art or music. Classroom teachers are just to lazy to take 30 mins out of the week to spend time on it.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@ForNever: and it doesn't effect me or my kids directly i attended private school up to 9th grade and been homeschooled since.

@Mountainlady16: Congratulations, nonetheless if you are concerned with the matter you can still do your part to make a change

@ForNever: i think i will go to the city were the story i read that set me off bout 2nd gradersdoing their first art projects. Where supposed they cant afford art and music teachers. But i dont get why classroom teachers cant take the time to do an art project or teach the kids a song or2 once a week than that is just pathetic

@Mountainlady16: Schools are like businesses, certain curriculum gets more state funding -such as sports. With little to no resources left over to fund for needed art supplies and instruments. Some teachers are kind enough to allocate funds for their students, yet not all can afford to do so. In addition, teachers also must present a teaching plan for the school board to accept. Without that teachers can't do what they wish to. Some/few teachers offer their own time without expense to help in volunteer programs. Due to overcrowded classrooms, and impaired learning some children are left behind in the educational system. The teachers are not solely to blame. Ultimately, it's an entire system that needs to be worked on for the good of the children's education.

@ForNever: but its not good for the kids to not to have a good rounded education which includes music and art.
Mountainlady16 · 22-25, F
@ForNever: and theres ways to teach other subjects using art and music. i learned my states with a song. we did an art project to learn the regions of ga.

@Mountainlady16: (With schools acting like a large business) -They don't look at every individual student's needs. Yes- it is not fair for the children to lose out on curriculum because it does not bring incentive to the school's yearly earnings and funds. Within each state many schools close because their testing scores fall below par. That is why teachers -then don't focus on teaching children broader things (instead they focus on teaching children on how to pass these state test). Those test in turn evaluate the teacher's capabilities to jam what the state deems necessary kids know. Art and Music are on the bottom of the list of requirements usually states aspire the children to excel in. The entire educational system is not at it's best.

@ForNever: teaching to the test which is pathetc this is why my kids will never ever go to public schools. and do you realize the reason why some kids stay in school is for things like art and music
