Do you have any unusual graduation traditions?

In Norway, the graduating students become "Russ" and get a red, blue or black uniform (depending on what they've been studying) that gives them free bus rides and discounts almost everywhere, and are expected to party like crazy.
If someone's Russ and DON'T go out drinking and partying like crazy, their parents will probably tell them to go out and get drunk lol.

Do you have any wacky graduation traditions where you're from?

Ahh, it's quite sedate in England. They do they thing where they throw their hats in the air. Some people get very drunk, but most go out with their families.

@GlassDog: I've seen that on TV, I think! Is it like, those square hats, or is that in the US?

@NorthernRoses: Yeah, those square topped ones. They're called mortar boards here. I work for a university so I get to see it happen every year. I've even been hit in the face a few times by flying hats!
