Y'all forgot that u can divide 5 into 40 ....8 times
@Bohemianbrassstrings: but the division was 525/1000 so you want 21/8 that is not a correct division since you must be the dividend divided by the divisor = the quotient if I recall thus the fraction is of equal parts such that 21/40 has been fairly by 5, if I were to do as you said I would create an imbalance by reducing 40 to 8 since I cannot reduce 21 equally by 5 it equals 4.2/8 in your example which again as I pointed out is .525 so I was correct. A+ me thinks a product of a bang up education many years ago.
@Nomad: right but then you would change that 21/8 back to a proper fraction... thats "old school" math...
@Bohemianbrassstrings: its the 21st century and .525 is the answer but yes 21/8 is old school and for someone so young someone so old taught you that.
@Nomad: obviously, by your age, youre old school too. i grew up in the 90s. i learned math in the late 90s. so i'm old school.
Half my age means you went to school in 90's education was on the down then but does not mean the teachers weren't educated. From what I have seen and experienced on 3 continents in education 95% of people would not know where to start.
