Over time England was invaded by Celts; Picts; Scots; Vikings; French; Germanic nations; plus of course, the Latin connection with the Romans.
So certain words will have adapted; changed slightly over time.
One also has to remember that it's only been since the turn of the last millennia that most languages were written down ! And even then, written by monks and political folk since they were the few that had been educated to any degree !
Quite how you go from enuff which is 15th century written English. To Enough. Which is 18th century English.....

But again main question arise why they put silent letters?
The letters which is written we should pronounce it. or what we pronounce we should wright it.

@Priyeta100: OK... I googled it and apparently there are a number of reasons. One is that some silent letters change the pronunciation of another letter. Another is that some words come from another language where that letter is pronounced...

@Priyeta100: Well silent letters are often linguistic indicators that tell you that pronunciation has altered.
For example:
Fin has a short sound. Similar to the pronunciation of Pig; Fig; Dig etc.
But put an 'E' on the end and you lengthen the vowel sound.
Pride; Slide; Glide etc.
